Valparai is a hidden plateau of emerald tea estates tucked into the Anamalai hills, reached by a thrilling climb up forty hairpin bends. Far from the usual crowds, it is a place for slow mornings, mist on the hills and the smell of fresh tea leaves.
The surrounding rainforest is home to lion-tailed macaques, Nilgiri langurs, gaur and elephants. Visit the vast Sholayar Dam, the Nallamudi Poonjolai viewpoint and the quiet estate roads that make Valparai ideal for travellers who want calm, nature and genuine local character.
